Awaken Education Center

Awaken launched the AEC in the Fall of 2020 to offer a safe, healing environment in which participants who are still in middle or high school could continue to participate in their schooling while healing from the trauma they’ve incurred. The AEC allows participants to attend online school, Monday - Friday at the Awaken site. The participants have access to the Awaken School Advocate, support from their case manager, mentor and tutors. The AEC ensures that youth victims of sex trafficking can acclimate back into the routine of working toward their educational goals. Without access to appropriate education and support, there is a high likelihood of revictimization. With this new way of approaching education, it is Awaken’s hope to disrupt the exploitation cycle.
